The backlash over the Gabba cost estimate got loud enough this month that the government called an independent review of the whole Olympic venue planning process, not just the stadium.
Reviews like this are hard to read from the outside. Sometimes they're genuine course correction. Sometimes they're a way to buy political space while nothing actually changes. I don't know which this is yet.
What I do know is that eight years out from an Olympics is early enough that plans still shift meaningfully. Anyone buying property purely on the promise of a specific venue location should probably hold that thesis loosely right now. The precinct-level growth story is more durable than any single stadium decision. The stadium decision itself is clearly still very much in motion.
