Closing Out the Year: $977,575 and Climbing

Brisbane's median house value closed the year at $977,575, up 10.2 percent on where it started. Worth reflecting on everything that happened alongside that number this year. A stadium plan announced, reviewed, and scrapped. A construction insolvency crisis that got worse before it got better. A full year at peak rates before the first cut finally arrived in December.

None of it slowed the price growth down. If 2023 was about resilience through the fastest hiking cycle in decades, 2024 was about a market that just kept climbing regardless of the noise happening around it.

Heading into next year with a genuinely different setup though, rates finally moving the right direction, population growth still strong, and a median that's now firmly through the psychological milestone of a million dollars getting closer by the month.
